So, this is what happens when your friends are enablers. And kinkmemes. Lordy, the kinkmemes.
prologue
My father was a Sapphire-jewelled Prince, the son of aristos who came out from Anglend Territory to live a while in Ruskiya. My mother fell in love with him when she met him on the banks of the Vltava, half-frozen while staring up at the stars.
She doesn't talk about that time much. I understand why - it can't have been easy for a mere Blood female to live with a dark-Jewelled aristo, even if he loved her - but sometimes I think it would have been nice to know more. Most of what I know about my father is thanks to my Aunt Nino, who said he was a good man who died defending my mother from brutal rogues.
In her grief, my mother pushed everyone but my Aunt Nino out of her life. Somewhere, travelling across the sea to Uessia, she pushed me out, too.
I was born without a Territory, without an allegiance to my name - a small squalling thing of insignificant Blood, considered barely better than landens. But I was born beneath the open stars my father loved, on the rocking sea, with a broken Black Widow for a midwife.
It's common knowledge that broken Blood - severed from their Jewelled strength - can't use their Craft. But Aunt Nino says that something about the blood of my birth touched the Black Widow, and she looked at Aunt Nino with eyes that saw through the veiled mists to the future and said that I would someday be a great Queen.
To Aunt Nino, this means I am destined for greatness, with a full court of Thirteen Circles, and a powerful Warlord Prince as my Consort and husband.
Yeah, right.

Notes: JA in the Black Jewels universe is problematic because there is no 'secret princess' narrative available in Black Jewels. One can be a Queen hidden away (eg. Maria Hill in my MCU AU: 'Assembly, Care And Feeding Of A Queen's Court') or ignored because of social rank and a tangled web (eg. Gwen in my Merlin AU: 'Prince Of Camelot: Choice And Destiny') but one cannot not know oneself to be a Queen as Jupiter does if one lives in Blood society. And how would a powerful Queen be born to landens?
Basically, this means some very interesting footwork has to take place for everything to gel....
