In spite of the health issues, I'm going to go ahead and start planning this. Apparently travel in July is already pretty pricey and I haven't booked anything yet.

Plan (with approximate dates) is:
Sydney -> Vietnam (9th July)
Vietnam -> Paris (14th July)
Paris -> ???(17th July)
??? -> Rotterdam (20th July)
Amsterdam -> Houston (25th July)
Houston -> Denver (28th July)
Denver -> San Francisco (2nd August)
San Francisco -> Sydney
