So summer is done gone, I have two pumpkins, assorted corn, a lot of tomatoes (mostly wormy), and the eggplants and capsicums/peppers are going great guns.

The onions and shallots I planted from kitchen cuttings are going well, the leeks from winter are still going, and I think I should have some potatoes, although probably not many and not very large. But I seem to by and large suck at growing green leafy vegies.

The winter is for root crops: beetroot and carrot and onion and suchlike. Not sure how well they'll grow; guess I'll find out.

And I have to resist buying 'fruit tree packs' from the nursery whose email updates I get. So damn tempting, because I always wanted to pull up the fence, and plant a line of trees between the front yard and the street path...

Must resist. Maybe next year.

My mother can't grow lettuce for the life of her, but she can charm heirloom tomatoes out of the ground even in bad tomato years! Maybe green Leafy veg just isn't something you've got a handle on yet.

I hope the pumpkins are tasty!
