I did a quick headcount on the fic I've written in the last year and discovered that I've written 95 full and total fics in that time.
95 fics is really quite a lot, if I stop and think about it. I'm not quite sure how I managed to produce so much, but it seems I have.
Possibly I have an evil twin hanging around here somewhere?
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Uhh... I guess I have to come down on the side of 'more than I thought', because I would never have predicted I'd write almost 100 stories - long and short - this year. The inspiration is coming down, though. Between a lack of Teyla in the show, a lack of Sheppard/Teyla interaction, and a lack of people interested in my Teyla and Sheppard/Teyla fics, I'm running on empty.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2005?
Rodney/Ronon. Slash is so very not my bunny, Daniel/Paul Davis notwithstanding. But they work kinda well, mostly because the only two people I can see really putting up with Rodney are Teyla and Ronon. I think this year, though, I discovered just how much of a multishipper I am - Teyla/everyone-but-Ronon, and Rodney/Ronon besides. I still love Shep/Teyla and have a soft spot for Ronon/Elizabeth, but...lots of ships. Many ships. Just not the three most popular pairings: McShep, Shweir, and 'Spanky' - Teyla/Ronon (good lord, who makes up these names and why haven't they yet been shot?).
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
I really like The Travelling Sense Of Home. Because it's got three of my favourite things in it. Teamness, John/Teyla friendship-with-possibly-a-bit-more, and a plotline that circles around Teyla's abilities. Ironically, in this fandom, those three things seem most likely to make it extremely unpopular - at least as far as people encouraging you to write more go.
Did you take any writing risks this year? (See above for unexpected pairings, etc.) What did you learn from them?
I've started writing slash and multishipping, so I guess that was a risk. I don't know that I took any other risks this year, though.
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Fanfic goals? Well, I already specified them in an earlier post.
1. Finish the John/Teyla
fanfic100, even if they have to be short and unloved.
2. Write at least two longer (30K+) 'regular universe' fanfics. Preferably gen.
Profic? I'm going to finish an original fiction novel I began last year.
