Look, a bunch of you are in "at risk" categories now. And, frankly, I'd like you to survive the next four years, if surviving is a possible thing. If I could kidnap you and bring you here, I so would...but I can't.

So this is what I have for you in the face of the Drumpfuckalypse: small acts of paperwork.

The Oh, Crap! Survival Guide: Bureaucracy and paperwork are not necessarily radical acts. This is about taking care of business. Please maintain the focus on concrete acts of preservation and planning. You are encouraged to find other ways of supporting broader struggles for justice. There will be many opportunities to jump in.

Concrete Suggestions In Preparation For January: Again, if you've been putting off paperwork, now is the time to move.

That Thing You Are Doing - a.k.a. "The Safety Pin Initiative". Are you sure it means what you think it means? And are you willing to do what it takes to get the job done?

I think the Safety Pin initiative is rather like a wedding ring when all is said and done. It's an external representation of an internal decision. But you can still cheat on your spouse while wearing a wedding ring. So I guess the Safety Pin is like that - a public sign of a private committment - but the follow-through is very important.

I did like the Twitter post that said "If everyone who wore a safety pin contacted their representative about this, we'd have less need of the safety pins." Which is at once true and confronting for people who want to be allies...only not that publically.
