My legs are all over bruises. I think it's because of hockey, but I'm not sure. Well, I know the bruise on my left ankle is because of hockey - someone whacked a ball right into my ankle. Nothing broken I think, just bruised and OW if you touch it. And I know the one on my right foot is where I banged it on the tape player my sisters left in the hallway. Also, my upper back muscles feel like they need a really good stretch, and my lower back wants to lie down for a few hours. Actually, I want to lie down for a few hours myself and just sleep.
Last night was a really good dinner at the parentals' - my stepdad did a pork loin stuffed with figs, plus crackling, stir-fried cabbage, and baked vegies: Kent pumpkin, potatoes, and carrots. The potatoes and carrots were sprinkled with dried sage and thyme - my stepbro used to work for Masterfoods and I think my stepdad is trying to get through the collection of spices and herbs that A brought home while he worked for them - and the pumpkin was sprinkled with tarragon. Dessert was home-made galettes - apple and pear - with cream and/or ice-cream.
There wasn't enough cabbage, IMO. I know cabbage is not high on people's lists of 'things they love to eat' but when sliced fine (like coleslaw fine), and lightly stir-fried with garlic and onions and a dash of salt or sauce-of-choice, it's beautiful.
Galettes are surprisingly easy: take an apple or pear, core and slice thinly, arrange on a sheet of puff pastry, sprinkle with sugar for some light caramelisation, bake in an oven at 150C for about 12-15 mins.
I ate a little more than I should have; kept picking at the food, even though I knew I was at 80% fullness and by the time I ate it, I'd be a bit over-full.
Honestly, this is a big factor in why I go to the gym 3x a week, play hockey and attend hockey training: because I love my food and I hate shopping for new clothing.
Incidentally, the music from Enchanted is hilarious every time.

I hear you on the reasons for exercising hard, although I was relieved to discover that today was the once-every-31-days occasion when I get to take a day off lifting. I have a cycle of 30 lifting routines, alternating between upper body and upper abs, and lower body and lower abs, with some all ab days thrown in. The cycle starts and ends with a big upper-body push (WTF? Heard of planning ahead?) so rather than work the same muscles two days in a row, I take that 31st day off. Wheee!

I LOL'd for real.
Actually, I've skipped tonight's class. I have a writing assignment...which I am just about to get into. (Really! Honest!)
