one: Do you manually crosspost to LJ from DW, or do you do the little checkboxy thing that auto-crossposts?

Because ever since I found the checkbox, I've been auto-crossposting, and yet people are saying "they'll continue to crosspost" which DW's auto-crosspost doesn't allow anymore since it has to go through the Russian TOS Of Doom which I haven't yet signed.

How do you crosspost? Did you have to sign the Russian TOS before it would let you crosspost?

two: I feel like I should start running a comm for fests that are held on AO3 (nominations, posting) but which are only announced on LJ.

Such as the mcu_aufest, which does not appear to have a DW equivalent. However, nominations, sign ups, matching and so forth is run from AO3, so no need to use LJ except for the announcements.

three If you've subscribed to me and granted access to me, and I haven't done the same, chances are it's because I'm not actually sure who you are. (Sorry, this is one of my problems; I am really incredibly shoddy at remembering the username of people I've spoken to. Chances are I am much more likely to remember our conversations, what we spoke about, and associate you that way.

This is why I don't think of people who I know solely from Tumblr as 'friends'.

People on Tumblr are strangers who like my stuff and occasionally move on the things that I've moved into their line of sight. And sometimes I like their stuff and move on the things that they've moved into my line of sight into the line of sight of other people I know and they don't. But we're not friends. If we had a major difference of opinion, I probably wouldn't bother trying to discuss it with them, or find out why they thought that, I'd just drop them like a hot potato.

This is the difference between 'friends' and 'people on the internets' for me. I made friends on LJ. I've made a few friends on DW, and a few on Tumblr, but the lack of friends on DW is largely because I'm in sections of fandom that few people are involved with, in all the 'normative' boxes, which means that unless people knew me before the move to LJ, then they're not really interested in me. (Understandable.)

The lack of friends on Tumblr is because Tumblr is not about friendship; it's about high-entertainment/low-interaction social media. I want high-informative/high-interaction social media - people to talk things over, and squee with, and meta, and interact with about my daily life. Fannish people - the kind I won't see on FB so much. (My FB is full of family and fleshspace people, who I interact with over different topics and in different ways. Some of them are geeky/fannish; most of them are not - at least, not in any way that I could reasonably squee with and where they won't look at me sidewise.)

I've signed the russian tos, but am considering deleting my lj account. There are some communities I follow, who haven't moved over sadly, that I still watch and get info from. I just don't like that stupid russian tos crap. I'm glad I don't really have anything on lj.

Live journal has so many memories for me, its hard to let go.

As someone pointed out yesterday, LJ has a great deal of fannish history that will be lost and/or inaccessible after this, because folks have pulled up stakes and gone their ain way.

So, yeah, it's pretty hard just to walk away.

I think the comm is an excellent idea. I used to set up feeds for lj-only comms, but the last time I tried DW said I had an invalid url.

This wouldn't be a feed, so much as a site where comm announcements are posted for people who might not be on LJ to keep track...

I just can't get rid of all my fannish history on LJ. Even if I never accept the TOS, I just can't bring myself to get rid of my journal.

Deleting an online journal is really really hard, especially if it goes way back. I did it twice on LJ, and each time it was a total wrench.

ad one -- yes; crossposting is disabled until you accept the terms. They may be evil, but man, your new Russian Overlords really know how to get you to "agree" to their point of view...

ad three -- I don't even know who my tumblr followers are; I never check. Do you interact with me? If not, I don't know you from Adam. Or Steve, for that matter.

I don't check my tumblr followers, but I know there are over 800 of them. I only recognise a handful, though.

I keep getting female porn requests on tumblr. I really don't wanna see that. That's mainly the only requests I ever get. I have a few friends there, but not many.

I would be surprised if you knew who I am, since I only subscribed recently and tend to lurk, but this seems like a decent place to comment and say hi. (Hi!) I've seen you around in friends' comments, and you seem interesting and thoughtful, so I wandered over.

As for crossposting, I haven't tried it yet since the changes over there. >.< I'm still deciding what to do, but leaning towards leaving my LJ as-is and not crossposting anymore.

I tried crossposting to LJ from DW and it told me that "TOS needs to be signed" or some such (in my DW Inbox) so I take it that we can't.

I'm probably going to leave my LJ as-is and cease to crosspost.

I use a program called Semagic to do my posting from rather than the DW site. I haven't tried cross posting anything yet to see if I can before signing the TOS.

I think I will stop cross posting to LJ but leave it up. There's a lot of fannish history at LJ that's very hard to leave. Especially since I've been wandering back into old fandoms where the fic haven't moved to AO3.

I also have a fanfic challenge comm that has gone dormant but most of the stories are not on AO3. I'm reluctant to abandon it.
