And win the Eurovision Song Conteeeeeest!!!
My Sunday:
0. Sleep really badly.
1. Wake at 4:45am, text friend to see if it's still okay if I go over and watch Eurovision with her; it is.
2. 5am, watch my way through The Eurovision (as it's called in Europe), decide that most of the songs are good listening, but I don't much like the visuals.
3. 8am head home to grab my stuff for
4. Hockey: watching Team 1 play at 9am
5. Hockey: playing game at 10:30am (we lost 3-2)
6. Hockey: playing game for Team 2 at 1pm (we won 2-1 and one of the goals was mine)
7. Take a bath, nearly fall asleep in it.
8. Decide going to church (driving there) with the amount of sleep I haven't had is unwise.
9. Make a sandwich and note that hands are shaking.
10. Come back and start reading Fandom 5K. The quality of the stories I've read has been REALLY GOOD, guys!
Fandom 5K recs (so far)
Harry Potter:
Charms for an Extraordinary Life: When Harry's actions throw an investigation into a Dark wizarding shop into disarray, he must work with Magizoological expert Luna Lovegood to crack the case.
Fantastic Beasts (And Where To Find Them):
Turn (Slightly) Left: A handful of minutes can throw even the most gifted Seer's prophecies off. Credence's Obscurus passes through Central Park slightly later, which gives Newt the time and information he needs to find an Obscurial with enough control over their magic that he may be able to save them.
Eureka:
Fairytale Of Eureka: The annual Eureka town bake-off is going great — until taste-testers start coming down with fairy-tale afflictions. With Jack out of town, Jo needs to figure out what’s going on before it’s too late.
I have four more open in the tags and will read them over the next few days. I would like people to read (and enjoy) the story I wrote, but it's been a bit touch-and-go lately.

The problem with a team of women who don't play too well is that they listen rather too intently to a man who tells them how to play. Last week, the coach told us to pass the ball at the first opportunity, and people passed...too early, or when they weren't ready, or when they had a clear run ahead of them. This week, he told one woman to hold onto the ball...and she held onto it, even when she was better off passing to a team-mate who had no defenders on her, while she was facing two or three...
I just want to tell them "You play your style. Work out what that is. Use his advice as it works for you and discard the parts that don't. Also: he's a man, and men coaching women tend to assume that women can do exactly what they can in sports (or that women's amateur sport is played with the same intensity and certainty that men's amateur sport is) and then want women to emulate the things they do in their own teams.
This. Never. Works. Well.
Also: annoying ex-President? Is bossy on the field, and it's getting on my nerves, and, I think, on the nerves of other people in the team. She was particularly bad this week, because she's pretty much in the middle of the game and thinks that gives her leave to tell everyone where to go.
Finally, there's a woman who just joined the club this year and has been put on our team. She can play pretty well, but she doesn't seem happy about it, if that makes sense? You've heard of resting bitchface? Well, this is resting displeasure face! And she's not friendly, or animated, or open. It may simply be a bad case of social awkwardness, or simple inexpressiveness, but I find it unnerving and difficult to communicate with her. When someone is regarding you with slitted gaze, the assumption is that they don't like what you're saying, or don't like you, or are thinking about whether the paperwork is worth murdering you...
That was playing with the team I was dropped to this morning.
Then I played with the team I was dropped from this afternoon.
It was a dream. My moves worked, I could run the ball down and pass and someone would be there! I could call and people would pass the ball to me fast and smooth and in a place where I could run for it, not where I'd have to step back to avoid kicking it. I could tackle and get the ball away, or at least deflect it... I had four nearly-goals (I swear, the right goalpost had a deflection shield around it that angled the ball out of the goal), and one actual-goal which was a goal off someone else's hit into the circle - I touched it to deflect it away from the expected trajectory and it went in.
So I think that's four, maybe five goals this season so far? At least one per game would be a good number. I need to practise the art of the hard pass... I need to find a way to encourage the team to practise hard and fast passes!
And I need to find a way to get people to listen to someone other than ex-President squawking at them when she's the loudest and most shrill voice on the field. It may involve the "Okay, Lisa, we need you to shut up and not tell people what to do in the game" approach. I'll have to think about this, and maybe talk with the team Captain who is a lovely, softly-spoken, team-oriented women...
And now that it is 9pm, I think it is time to go to bed...

And it was mostly a combination of 'holdover from last year (when I had insomnia)', and 'I couldn't attend this year's Eurovision Party due to hockey'.
