Welcome to my Dear Author letter for marvelismarvel, wherein I try to give you a snapshot of the kind of stuff I like, and which you are welcome to take as gospel (although I don’t recommend it), consider as guidelines (rather than rules), or simply read as an exercise in curiosity (entirely acceptable).

Fandom: Marvel Ultimates - fanfic
Characters: Maria Hill, Miles Morales
Pairings: no relationships
Ideas: I like this idea of Maria as the Jim Gordon to Miles' Batman - both as an adult, and as law enforcement. How does she level the use of a minor (superpowered, perhaps, but still a minor) as a weapon? How does Miles feel about this authority - particularly as a young non-white man doing vigilante work in America?

Feel free to bring in any other canon characters you like.


Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe - fanfic
Characters: Maria Hill
Pairings: Maria/Steve
Ideas: I've only listed Maria because really I want a story about Maria. That said, you can write about her and any character(s) from the MCU (or Agents of SHIELD) interacting, being friends, getting shit done, making things happen.

Some favourite interactions are: Maria & any female SHIELD agent being friends - but not in a 'girly' way. Maria & Pepper Potts - women at the top of their game, who know what it is to fight every step of the way. Maria & any Avengers, friendliness, mission directives, and snark. Or, with Maria/Steve, how it all fits together after Civil War.


Fandom: Age of Apocalypse - fanfic
Characters: Jean Grey, Scott Summers, Sue Storm
Pairings: no relationships
Ideas: I love the Age of Apocalypse - my first experience of an AU, and one of my favourites with everyone twisted just that little bit around. I'd love a story about Jean and Scott - finding each other sooner, developing a relationship, enemies-to-lovers, or even just rewriting the canon. I haven't seen the movies, so any references to that are probably going to slide over my head, but if you want to bring in ideas from the movie into the fic, then go ahead. For Sue, I love the ending of Universe X, where she survives with the child of Rafe and Marta - Frankie - who Ben rescued (before he died in the escape). What happens next? How does she cope with everything she's lost - her friends, a world - they won the war, but they've lost so much.

If you want to write a Maria Hill in the AoA, then I will ADORE you. Otherwise, feel free to include any of the characters in the tagset, as well as any others that you particularly like.


All these ideas are, ultimately, optional. If they speak to you, then well and good. If they don’t speak to you, then go with the fandom, character, and relationships that we matched on, and it’ll be fine!
