Non-spoilery: it's a rollicking good ride all the way.
Valkyrie was awesome. So was Hela. There were a BILLION cameos and I'm pretty sure I picked them all (except Taika himself, and that would have been bloody difficult given that he was wearing prosthetics for the entire movie).
ALL THE TROPES. THEN SUBVERT. THEN INVERT. THEN PLAY IT STRAIGHT. Whoever wrote the script did an excellent job of it all.
I liked the Chekov's gun of the crown being passed through the Eternal Fire to gain life, and bringing Ragnarok to Asgard, but taking the people of Asgard away.
Valkyrie as a hard-drinking, cynical, much-older-than-she-looks woman of the universe with some hardcore tech and skills really works for me. Much as I like the story of Jane/Thor (which I think needed a bit more fleshing out in Thor 1), Thor/Valkyrie actually works pretty damn well for me. He's got that puppy-dog crush kind of thing going ("I wanted to be a Valkyrie when i was a kid...before I realised that you had to be a woman...")
I kind of want to write Thor/Valkyrie fic now. *contemplates*
And Cate Blanchett chewed scenery like it was going out of style.
Apart from Stan Lee, I counted: Benedict Cumberbatch, Karl Urban (not really a cameo), and Matt Damon, but I didn't recognise Liam Hemsworth, because I've never seen the guy before. (And the hilarity of a Hemsworth brother playing the actor playing the character Chris Hemsworth is known for is immense and great and delightful.)
Loki is not my favourite character, but they did a good job with him - both the good and the bad. And Hela's backstory totally worked as a template of modern westernisation - an empire of truth and beauty and righteousness...built on blood and cruelty and domination.
Finally, I'm glad of the way Hela ended. It means the 3rd part of a trilogy that I had in mind (I've only written the first one) has some ground in which to spin its wheels. Only...now I have to write Part 2. Which is kind of angsty.
