I'm trying to decide what my next nail art should be. Justice League comes out this week (somewhere?) and I'm mildly hopeful by the initial non-spoilery reviews ("It has issues, but it's entertaining. Which is about all DC can hope for at this point.") so that's an option - except for having to wing the designs, due to a lack of JL nail plates. (Has anyone made WW plates? Given how popular the movie is, surely someone has to be making WW plates?)

Otherwise, I'm waiting on a shipment of Moyou polish and plates (being sent on by a friend) and I don't know when it'll arrive.

The results for the Marriage Equality Survey Of Doom come out this morning - a non-binding, non-compulsory 'vote' on whether gays should get all the legal and social rights in formal partnership that heterosexuals have. I'm hoping quietly for 'Yes, they should' (and angry that they spent all this money so our PM could keep his right-wingers happy) but after Brexit and Dump, my faith in public opinion polls is way down. And if it goes 'No, they shouldn't,' I'm worried for my gay friends (and steeled to endure the self-righteousness from certain people in my Christian circles).

The molestation, abuse, and sexism "revelations" out of politics/Hollywood is an interesting example of the things we tell ourselves to continue to exist comfortably and participate in the things we like. Or how we react when our idols fall.

It's also a reminder of fandom's own purity culture, where everything must be pure, sweet, cinnamon rolls for consumption, and if not, then we must burn it to the ground. On the other side of the fence, there's also a fair bit of judgeyness on where the lines for acceptance/enjoyment are in an industry that's been fucked up from the get go by a society that's equally fucked up and continues to be fucked up.

I kind of wonder if Thor was glad to see Asgard burn. Could he ever walk through that hall and not think of Hela buried and imprisoned for an aeon so his father could play bright-and-shining All-Father? Yes, the narrative gave him an out - he no longers has to face the imperalist roots of his power and authority, but that doesn't mean he can't still personally work it through. I mean, he won't, because this is the movies. But.

Some of the programs in the system have been written in ways that just boggle me. Badly designed, badly coded, gaps so big a keystroke can fall through without being noticed. Of course, the programs in question may be as much as a dozen years old and so barely touched in that time (they just upgraded their system) that they've become institutions…

I have to keep telling myself that my job is to find and fix the issue, not rewrite the code to be more streamlined. But I might sneak a code tweak or two in there, because some of this code is SO BAD.

The chooks have laid two eggs and are getting a bit demanding. Lots of clucking in the morning - to the point where they're almost sounding roosterfish.

Also, I'm worried I'm not feeding them enough scraps even though they have the feeder with chook mix in it. I'm presently debating whether to leave them on the current bed for another week, or move them to the next scratching space on Saturday. I have corn seedlings and other things that need going in the ground right now, and I think the chooks are getting bored with their current space, but the grass isn't as scratched up as I'd like...

I might dig up the top layer of grass in the next bed, toss it in the pen, and let them mulch it over the next couple of weeks...

Hopefully they don't kill the avocado that they'll be scratching under.

It's a Wednesday, we're halfway there, praise be. Of course, the weekend is going to be a little crazy, but if I don't get picked up for work next week it might be nice to lie in.

ETA: THEY GOT IT. :)

Yeah. I wish Thor were that kind of hero. The final scenes of Odin dying, and how both brothers, actually, treated him with reverence, did not fill me with confidence that Thor is that kind of hero, though -- and like you say, it sadly isn't the story Taika Waititi really brought to a more critical close.
