The leather bikinis are furphies. The women battle in the same armour as in WW.

I did spot 'bikini armour' on at a number of guards who do one particular thing that isn't fighting. It could be argued that the 'bikini armour' gives them better freedom of movement for that action - and probably will be argued as such. I don't think it makes much sense from a female-view perspective, but I'm also het, and it may be that the Amazons do appreciate a well-muscled midriff so long as it's not impractical. (And, given their role and the situation that we see Hippolyta walking into, these guards could be argued to be primarily ceremonial or for the purpose that they fulfil in the movie.)

Basically, it's not the sheer ridiculousness of heading into battle with your internal organs unprotected, however there is scantiness. I just don't think it's unreasonable scantiness.
