Christmas this year will be at the uncle's house 15 mins away, with all the relatives, young and old, and any 'orphans' who need somewhere to cower for the day (introverts welcome to find a room/lounge and we'll just peek in on them from time to time and check they're all okay). It switches between Christmas and Boxing Day at Uncle D's, because their oldest son (N, my age) and his wife and their four kids spend every alternative year with her family. But it's always lovely to catch up.

(Although N's wife and I have been trying to write YA novels for forever, and I suspect that she's further along than I am, even though I've written more words...)

Since my stepbrother only arrives in Sydney on the 25th (I think his wife is coming a week earlier) the gathering of the immediate family will be on Boxing Day. It was going to be the evening of the 25th before I kind of nagged mum about changing it b/c two sets of food on the one day is just overkill, and the stepbros will be at their mother's for Christmas lunch, they don't want to do Christmas dinner as well - particularly not if older stepbro has just flown in that morning.

I've never been so glad that Dad moved to another country; we don't have to decide which parent to have celebrations with, when he turns up, he turns up and we'll see each other then.

So that's Christmas sorted out, anyway. Not sure what's happening with New Year, but I have a few gatherings of friends, before, during, and after that period, and at least one visitor from overseas, which will be lovely, especially since the centre of town no longer looks like a construction zone (not that I've been there in the last six weeks since it opened - maybe I'll go in tomorrow night for late night shopping).

Been feeling kind of bloated food-wise lately. Sort of nauseous after eating anything - like I've eaten too much - even if I've only had a coffee. Not really looking forward to the Christmas season with all it's food things.
