Had a good day yesterday, meeting up with
grav_ity while she was in Sydney for a holiday. We walked and talked, caught the ferry out to Manly, had lunch, caught the ferry back. It was four hours of excellent.
And it wasn't boiling crazy sunny hot, so it was a day of How Much Do I Love Summer (as compared to the weekend, when some parts of Sydney hit 47.3C in the shade and are a classic example of How Much Do I NOT Love Summer).
I'm still trying to refine my
holly_poly fic; it's not quite right although I can't say how. And I'm thinking that I might drop off the internets for a while, because I was hoping to have downright complicated finished and I don't think I can afford the distraction/diversion of my
holly_poly gift. Plus, if I know I have something waiting for me to read/comment upon, then I'm more likely to focus on it. Goal-setting, y'know?
It's Friday, I don't really want to be here at work today, but this is surely the case for everyone.
I have already done one piece of work, though, so...yay me?
...okay, guys, I just saw the preview for a movie called BREAKING IN and I am HOLY SHIT as;dlkfha;gkhaldkfjasdflkhwaeiohdskafn GIVE THIS TO ME NOW.
It's Gabrielle Union (whom I last remember seeing in Bring It On) in the genderswapped version of every movie about an ex-agent dad who thinks he's going to quietly retire until they come after his family. BE GOOD TO YOUR MOM, SHE KNOWS HOW TO KILL BAD (WHITE) GUYS. To quote my 25 year old friend. YASSSSS QUEEEN...
Also, is it just me or is RED SPARROW the Black Widow movie that Marvel should have made five years ago? And am I the only one not enthused about an actual Black Widow movie, because way to make sure that everyone knows that There Can Only Be One (Rounded Female Character)?
Oh, and while I am accustomed to being told "shut up and be happy with what you have" from men, being told this by fannish women is not unexpected, but it's (rather unsurprisingly) even more unpleasant.
Weekend involves: installing automated chicken coop door, watching the Aussie Women's 20-20 Cricket over at the SGC, possibly cooking quiche, probably planting out the bajillion little seedlings that I planted 10 days ago and which are rapidly taking over my growing trays.
Jackie French (of Diary Of A Wombat fame - seriously, best series for under-5s and anyone older with a sense of humour) is absolutley right when she exhorts you to plant in January if you want a crop, IF YOU PLANT IT, IT WILL GROW.
Oh, and also on the To-Do list is writing. This is why I am not getting downright complicated written... *sigh*
