sedoretu: The scene wasn't working, I'm rejigging it. Hopefully this iteration is a little more action and a little less talking heads, although they do need some conversation to get over the issues. And I think I just sorted out how to tie it all together.

Captain Marvel: shots of Samuel L Jackson and Cobie Smulders on the set of CM, which seems a little odd, given that Fury has both eyes, but Maria doesn't look any younger, and CM is supposed to be primarily set in the 90s.

Does that mean Maria is ageless, then? (Man, I'd get on board that train if I thought it wouldn't just sit at the station. Forever.) Also, given the period of time, it'd be more likely to have Coulson involved, surely?

At least they're shooting Captain Marvel? So...yay? Could we have Maria & Captain Marvel friendship at least? Like Trish Walker and Jessica Jones only on the big screen? PLEASE? One solid on-screen female friendship/relationship/respectship. Oh, and Rhodey. I'm pretty sure they'd never, but I really really really want Rhodey and Captain Marvel friendship/relationship/something back in the 90s?

I have this theory that the existing Marvel Cinematic Universe will be destroyed at the end of Infinity War, and every movie that comes after it will take place in a different reality - similar to the alternate realities that exist in Marvel comics. We might get some of the same characters but their histories, back stories, relationships and alliances will all be different from the current MCU.

If that's the case, Maria and Fury (sans eyepatch) could very well exist in Captain Marvel's 1990s timeline.

Hm. That's an interesting idea (and could be very reasonable for Marvel to 'reset' the characters and the stories and start off a new slate).

But yeah, it seems very "comicsian" - ten years of continuity and then a reboot!

Although I'd certainly be up for it if they did Jane Foster!Thor and Sam Wilson!Cap as well as a bunch of other non-white non-male characters... And Maria in a key role of course. *grins*

I doubt it. Also, if it's in the 90s, she'd be either early 20s or a teenager. (If we're going by Cobie Smulders' actual age.)

Oh, I know it won't be. The guys who write for Marvel movies don't seem to be able to imagine a character who isn't superpowered or specifically a love interest (unless they're a villain).
