One thing that I didn't quite get in Captain Marvel: Are cats actually Flerken? Or do Flerken just look like cats?

Haven't heard back about the high-intensity job. I'm kind of 'meh' about it TBH. I'd rather wait for something a little lower key, but if it gets me back in the ring...

Right now, I'm quietly hoping that the client the contracting company is presenting me to nixes me, which might get the contracting company to shuffle someone else more suited into the high-intensity job and stuff me into their current position?

We can hope.

It's good. It's really good and enjoyable.

It has a very different vibe to Wonder Woman, but that's necessary. Another Wonder Woman type movie (or even a Ghostbusters type movie) wouldn't make Carol stand out the way this one does. Diana's story is about her growing up, coming into her own; Carol's story is about finding her roots.

( and yet, she persisted )

Short version: unconventional but good. Highly enjoyed but not emotionally shaken. And definitely worth seeing a second time.

This morning, the Nick Fury muse hits me sideways with the scene I'm presently writing between him, Maria, Wanda, Jane and a Wakandan Dora Milaje. I wrote 400 words in about 20 minutes.

Of course this happens a dozen hours before I'm somehow retconned for character in Captain Marvel which I am seeing at 5pm today at the local Big Cinema Complex (they had the best times, in spite of the small Indy Cinema being half the price; if I go a second or third time, it'll definitely be there).

Also: MY BETA REALLY LIKES THE STORY. AND ASKED THE QUESTIONS I WAS GOING TO ANSWER IN THE SECTION I'M WRITING. Hopefully this doesn't mean it's obvious what's going to happen at the end of this chapter. Or what has to happen to get to the final showdown.

I just want a few days of uninterrupted writing time, dammit! I think I'm free on Saturday, anyway. (My schedule says I'm free on Saturday.)

Halfamoon: No idea if it's going on, but I'll probably do my own thing for it.

sedoretu: The scene wasn't working, I'm rejigging it. Hopefully this iteration is a little more action and a little less talking heads, although they do need some conversation to get over the issues. And I think I just sorted out how to tie it all together.

chocolatebox: ahahahahahaha. I do, however, have a treat list.

Captain Marvel: shots of Samuel L Jackson and Cobie Smulders on the set of CM, which seems a little odd, given that Fury has both eyes, but Maria doesn't look any younger, and CM is supposed to be primarily set in the 90s.

Does that mean Maria is ageless, then? (Man, I'd get on board that train if I thought it wouldn't just sit at the station. Forever.) Also, given the period of time, it'd be more likely to have Coulson involved, surely?

At least they're shooting Captain Marvel? So...yay? Could we have Maria & Captain Marvel friendship at least? Like Trish Walker and Jessica Jones only on the big screen? PLEASE? One solid on-screen female friendship/relationship/respectship. Oh, and Rhodey. I'm pretty sure they'd never, but I really really really want Rhodey and Captain Marvel friendship/relationship/something back in the 90s?
