The zine submission is done.
The zine submission is done.
It's done like a well-done steak. Done like a dog. Done. Complete. Finitos. Fin.
I mean, I had hoped to have had it done six weeks ago but...I started three separate stories before I lighted on this story idea. Those other two stories racked up about thirty thousand words between them before their plotbunnies got a bad case of myxomatosis and carked it.
Phew. For. That.
Righty. This means my writing time is once again my own. I still have V-Day pairings to write. And In The Game. And the Hugs, Kisses and Cuddles battle. And I should probably check out
sga_flashfic sometime since I haven't written anything for them in an aeon.
And then there's the Alternate Atlantis 3.5, the Five Crack AUs That Tielan Will Never Write, the
fanfic100 (
purple_cube, why did I let you talk me into keeping it?) and this original fiction idea based around The Pinocchio Syndrome.
Why me? No, seriously, I mean it. Why me? Why do I end up with a bazillion plot ideas? Is my brain some kind of bunny-nip for plotbunnies?
So, I think I've got busy to do.
Oh, damn. All that's not even counting the
sgabigbang and Rodney/Teyla thingathon over at
sticksandsnark.
ACK!
I'm sure I can get a little writing in before I go to bed. Just a little writing...
I feel like an addict, you know? Stealing moments to write at work, suffering laptop angst, scribbling obscure notes amidst program variables...
Is there a Writers Anonymous group? "My name's T and I'm a writing addict..."

I'm sorry I haven't been keeping up with LJs of late. If bad things have happened to you, then *hugs* and I'm sorry I missed it or wasn't there to help.
And, uh, this might seem like an obvious question but after the last week of kerfufflage...is anyone going to be watching Atlantis Season Four? Other than me and a handful of Teyla-fen, I mean.

I'm wondering if this is going to split fic writing into divisions of people who watched S4 and derive ideas/plots etc from that, and people who refused to watch and write into AU to correct it. Mind you, with all fic being essentially AU it probably won't make much difference unless anyone in fandom starts getting snotty about those who did watch despite the changes...

Since January, I've noticed a 'downturn' in the Elizabeth fans who read this LJ (and comment), so it may already be beginning. An "If you're not with us, you're against us..."
When Michael Shanks left SG1 in Season Six, the fandom split that way: those who were utterly distraught that Daniel was leaving, and those who were Well, we're not happy, but we'll see... or didn't care. It became an "either/or" proposition: "Either you're on our side and really distressed that the character won't be in the next season, or you're one of them!"
Hopefully, it won't come down to that in Atlantis.
I guess we'll see.

LOL! I might as well join with ya. Every time I say I'm not gonna write again, something comes along and finds a way to inspire me. ;)

Last WEEK??? More like MONTHS of nonsense. I'm ignoring them all and watching the show. If I don't like it I'll stop watching, but considering I made it through seasons 9 & 10 of SG-1....;)

Where can I find this, apparently, excellently addictive show?
Last WEEK??? More like MONTHS of nonsense
Yes, well... The last week has been notable for the next round of spoilers and confirmations, and a lot of annoyed fannish outbursts.

So you're saying now wouldn't be a good time to ask if you wanted to write a short story (under 1000 words) for a fic project I'm working on? (and actually, I am serious about this - I'll email you details if you're interested or curious.)

...what kind of fic project? [username] at yahoo.co.uk

Speaking of said Pinocchio Syndrome, I was so hoping you would get back to that. Hopefully sooner now than later *g*
no subject
And it probably won't be posted anywhere public at all.
no subject
That's my suspicion, at least.
no subject
Well, complaining once you've watched it is different. Everyone complains once they've watched the episodes!
It's the 'once you've watched it' that makes the difference though. All we've got are spoilers right now, and Mallozzi doles them out like jigsaw puzzle pieces.
And there's a lot of sky.
no subject
Consider it revenge for letting you talk me into writing zine fic. *g*

That said I'll definitely continue to watch. I wait and see. *sipstea*
no subject
Six months of this, though. We're gonna need more tea!

I'll be watching S4. *nods* They'd really, really, really have to mess it up for me to quit.
no subject
Mucho writing.
I can think of several ways they'd mess it up for me that would mean I wouldn't watch. Cast changes is not one of them. Although if Teyla had been given the boot, I would have had a lot of rage, since they (and subsequently fandom) had screwed her over liek whoa from day one.
I love my underdogs.
no subject
Yes, I'm (mostly) optimistic.
no subject
Yeah, fandom's underdog - and the show's, too. Because they may not have intended to wallpaper Teyla, but they did a fantastic job of it this last season.
no subject
This is me so totally not laughing.
:D
Can't wait for S4! I think more people in the fandom might be watching it now, with the latest announcement that went up over at GateWorld this week. At least we won't have to hear the Carson wank (much) any more.
no subject
So...hm...*tries to think of how she can make this spoiler-free*
Is it just one ep or a series of them?

As for S4 - I can't imagine declaring I wouldn't watch a show I've liked based on the writers who created it in the first place doing what they want with it. If the show no longer holds my interest I'll bail (assuming I decide that I don't want to write any more SGA fanfic as well), but how the heck can I know that in advance?

Although I'd like to see your take on it. :)
how the heck can I know that in advance?
From what I understand, fans get heavily invested in a single character, and when that character's gone, they lose interest in the show. I guess it's a kind of "self-insert" or "window into the universe" for them.
