Mal still wasn't eating normally on Sunday night, so I took her to the vet Monday afternoon. Still no sign of anything wrong, but they took a blood draw, gave her anti-nausea pills, an appetite shot, and filled her with saline (again). Upon going home I was tasked with getting a urine sample since she didn't have anything in her bladder at the time of the vet visit.

They gave me some plastic litter to put in the litterbox instead of the usual absorbent stuff, after cleaning the litterbox out. But after several hours of standoff (involving yowling, sulking in her bed, and trying to dig out anything that resembled the usual litter), honestly? It was easier to wait until she needed to pee and then slip a small plastic cup under her to catch the sample.

*sigh*

I missed a gardening meeting to get that sample.

But this morning, she had her appetite back, was up and yowling at the door to be let out and fed as soon as I was up, and quite happily ate maybe a little less than her usual breakfast without hesitation.

But I dropped the urine sample in anyway, and I just got a call back from the vet - everything's coming up normal in her bloodwork and urine (basic overnight tests). So the vet said to keep an eye on her and see how things eventuate in the next 24 hours, watch what she eats and what she passes, and whether she shows any other symptoms of discomfort, and keep the vet updated on what happens. If she's back to "inappetance" again, then it might be time for x-rays and sonograms to check what might be wrong - the expensive options...
