All righty, Supernatural fans!

I'm looking for a Supernatural fic recs - specifically one fic that you enjoyed. I don't want fic rec communities, journals that keep fic recs, a link to your own recs or someone else's fiction page. I would like to be linked to a single story that you have read and liked and which comes reasonably close to my (imaginary) ideal SPN fic.

My ideal SPN fic would be something action-adventure-y, reasonably long, with accurate characterisation, affection between the characters, snappy lines, a reasonable premise (as reasonable as SPN premises get), gen (ie. without a focus on romantic/sexual relationships), and no Wincest. Something that's reasonably close to what might be seen in an episode of the show.

I'm not fussed about spoilers or seasons. I doubt I'll ever develop the nerves necessary for me to actually watch Supernatural. However, a lack of watching the show never stopped me from reading X-Files fanfic, so I don't see why the same shouldn't hold for SPN. I may discover otherwise, but in the meantime, I'm willing to be convinced.

If you don't know of any SPN fics matching my request, I'd like to hear from your f-list, if you're willing to send them over here and if they're willing to come!

It's definitely a slash-driven fandom, although when I've gone looking for gen, I've found decent amounts of it at [livejournal.com profile] spn_gen. But, whereas in most fandoms my tastes run towards long, plot-driven action/adventure (basically what you were asking for), I'm really not interested in reading it for SPN because the series itself supplies that for me, with its long plot arcs and tons of character moments. As a result, my SPN fic reading tends to lean towards little oddities, like the above -- odd or funny or unusual stories stuffed into the cracks in canon.

Along those lines, you might also check out Drunken Sam-Fu (http://eighth-horizon.livejournal.com/tag/drunken+sam-fu) and the Winchester Paper Trail (http://community.livejournal.com/hiyacunien/), both of which are "found object" stories kind of along the lines of my "Postcards to Jeannie" one.
