I got 'taken out for coffee' this afternoon by two of the supervisor-type people who I've been working with on this project which...was weird.

As in, they were very nice and friendly. Which...was nice. But would have been more appreciated back when I started, or maybe a couple weeks in.

*shakes head*

It's all ass-backwards around here, seriously.

And I'm still doing defect fixing.

eta: 30 minutes later and I'm out. A friend asked if I wanted to drink some wine. In fact, I just wanted to go home, maybe pick up some takeaway on the way.

And a lot of organisations put people in management roles but don't make sure they know how to manage. I've seen it a LOT in IT, which also as a field isn't nearly as good at valuing people as "good code", but from extensive reading of Ask A Manager I think it's all fields.
