Ugh. I'm participating in the Froday Flash Fiction "10 Year Fandom Battle" Challenge over at fffc.

That's not the 'ugh' part.

The 'ugh' part is where I get about 3K into a story for Round 2 of the battle and then realise that this is probably at least 10K and I don't actually have the time to do this.

So I dashed something off this morning, involving Uhura and Spock and snuggling and then read back through the previously posted fics and found a fic involving Kirk and Spock and Uhura and snuggling...

*sigh*

Hockey grading game tonight. I am awfully, terribly, dreadfully unfit and permanently exhausted.

Hey, there can be more than one story about snuggling, and I'm sure plenty of people would not enjoy the idea of the threesome.

I hope that you have good luck with the hockey.

Intellectually I know that, but I feel like someone would point to my story and say "well, she took the idea from that other story!" Which, yes, people do that all the time, but I've become peculiarly sensitive to criticism from fannish people...

I think the grading game went fine? I got some runs down the side, getting it across so people could get a shot at the goal, and managed to get past a couple of Team 1 defenders but couldn't quite manage it into the circle, so... Yay?

The problem is that I thought I did really well at the grading games a couple of years ago, and then I got put into Team 3 with all the newbies, while all the friends that I thought I was on par with got put up into Team 2... Frankly, that dented my self-esteem hugely and I've never quite been the same since.

Ahahaha. I've been there! This year for Black Is Beautiful, I started three--count them, THREE--fics in order to get one finished product that I was happy with. I like the other ideas, and may finish and post them eventually but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I always end up starting a bunch of fics that don't actually get finished for any exchange. Often, I end up having to dash off a 1K story two days before deadline because the OH NO IT'S GONE EPIC bug has struck again...

Thank you! Now that we're in week three of the challenge, I'm hoping I'll be able to focus enough to get the RIDICULOUS EPIC story done.

Space stations, msyterious mind takeovers, and Uhura and Sulu fighting for their surviva and doing EVA...

Problem is, I've read so many different space stories, it can be tricky to remember which terms belong to which fandom...
