I think you can drive yourself crazy with "but maybe it should be an entirely different story than it is!"
You are an excellent writer. Even if the story you have written isn't your absolute best work, I guarantee you it's still a decent story ... and at least for myself, when I get in a perfectionist flummox about how a story isn't good enough and I should completely change it, the story itself is FINE. It is not the problem. Perfectionism gets me so wound up in myself that I can't see the story for what it is. I explain to someone else what I think the problem is, and they read the story, and it turns out that it's only a problem in my head.
