Having returned home, with everything on credit, I am suddenly filled with the urge to go on a spending spree.
ARGH.
Due to rattage, I've bought three new chicken feeders - one "grandpa" (the kind that the chooks stand on a lever and it opens up a metal box) and two stationary feeders (you can get covers for their openings, but also they're designed so the chooks can't spill food everywhere, and vermin find it difficult to get in).
The human scraps will go in the metal box, and the regular chicken food will go in the stationary feeders; at least, that's the plan.
Have to work out what to do about the rats, though. They're spreading mites and lice among the chickens, and because my sisters have a habit of cuddling the chooks, I'm really worried about getting mites in the house. I'm treating the mites on the chooks, but the rats will keep introducing the mites to the chooks so long as they're around.
Ironically, we have three houses with cats, but they're all indoor cats, not outdoor ones, and nobody around here's willing to let their cat out after the last outdoor cat got hit by a car (and the driver stopped, then drove away leaving everyone else to deal with the issue).
In other purchasing news, I've been eyeing off these rolling pins for ages, and they have a SALE!
IDK. The return home has been nice, but also frustrating in having to deal with house things, realising how un-hangout-able the place is (particularly compared to my friends' houses), and comprehending just how little storage space we actually have so everything (EVERYTHING) is kept in boxes in the public spaces.
There are reams of things that B1 has for her Occupational Therapy work, which she thinks she might need "someday", but you know how it is Some Days Never Come.
We are going to have to sort through some stuff for the window replacements, but B1 is all "oh, we can do it in the week after Christmas". If I had a dollar for every time I heard 'I'll do it at [this time]' and nothing happened...
In spite of the cleaners, 36 hours later we are once again drowning in dust and fur everywhere. DESPAIR.
Don't even get me started on politics or the environment. *sigh*
Some of this is doubtless the post-holiday malaise, but still. There's a lot happening right now, all delicately balanced.
