Came home Sunday.

It's not so much that things hurt, just that everything feels unaccustomed. There are twinges and twitches, and itchy feelings that I think are probably the stitches aggravating. But things are settling. They've been settling day by day, it's just that the sites of the insertions are all a bit twingy, and they twinge at unexpected moments.

I came home with a veritable cornucopia of pharmacopeia. Anti-inflammatories, antibiotics, painkillers, the whole nine yards.

I have a slightly sore throat; I suspect there was something going around the ward, in part because all the nursing staff seemed to have throaty coughs, and I
tmi hacked up a great gob of phlegm on Saturday and a slightly less giant one on Sunday
and have been feeling a bit hack-y since then.

The instruction on activity says "do nothing the first week you are home". Uh.

The problem is that after a while lying in bed gives me a headache and my back doesn't like it. I can go lie on the couch for a little while, but that's still headache space and my back doesn't like it either. Sitting up aggravates some stitches, and lying on my side aggravates others. There's not really a universally comfortable position, it's just aggravating all the way around. Less so with each day. But still.

Also, bracing my midriff is doing weird things in my lower back and upper leg muscles, most likely because it's weird positions that they're not used to, and so random muscles are protesting.

TBH, I'm kind of bored right now. Okay, and I want my body back.

Time, I know. Time.

I wonder if I can get someone to drop me off at a library, and I'll just borrow away?

If they intubated for surgery, sore throat/respiratory irritation is VERY common.

yes, I was coughing like crazy when I woke up from tubal ligation surgery

Glad to hear the surgery went as well as can be expected and that you're home safe and sound! Sorry about the boredom - not really much to help there. I realized I forgot to reply to the comment about dictation sources, but I sadly don't know many? I tended toward the lazy version of dictating to the notes app on my phone via Siri which is uh... less than efficient. At some point, I need to do some good research and see what would actually work for me for high wrist pain days, but ADHD brain has not allowed it to be at some point yet.

Much sympathy for the "no good positions" feeling, and the boredom. Good luck for ongoing recovery.

Glad it all went well. Instant healing would be amazing but alas bodies take time...

Yes, intubation and sore throats go hand in hand. Feel better hon.

There has to be some fic you have been wanting to read? You now have plenty of time to do that. You need to rest but I know you have a hard time resting because you don't like to be idle.
