Saw the gyno this morning, she gave me the pathology report on my uterus.
There are pictures attached to the report, they're...a little disturbing.
That said, I'm not medical, but in a uterus of 108mm, there was a fibroid of 68mm in the anterior wall. Which means my uterus was mostly fibroid. The Mirena never even had a chance...
Anyway, more cheerfully: no sign of cancer, no indication that there's any issues with the uterus other than the ginormous fibroids completely sucking any and all life out of me, and she took out all the external stitches, including one that was in a delicate place, and made any kind of sitting down uncomfortable.
Apparently she feels I have a very high pain threshold which...I guess? I feel like I've never had that much pain to deal with, although when she was pulling on the external stitches (to clear them of the flesh, so she could cut them) it stung.
Discussed digestion and abdominal feelings - with everything moving into the gap, there's a bit of shuffling and weird feeling going on, but she pressed at various points and seemed happy enough with the results. apparently I might not be able to eat everything in sight henceforth; sometimes the digestive system doesn't entirely recover because of liver issues. 5 hours under anaesthetic does things, apparently.
DAMN.
You do not know how disappointed I am to hear that! *laughs at herself* Food is one of my (admittedly many) joys in life, and the prospect of not being able to stuff myself silly is greatly grieving me!
Oh well. I'll just have to be exceeeeeeeedingly picky about what I eat henceforth. (As though I wasn't already.)
On the abdominal sensations/feelings front, after discussing it with the gyno, apparently what I'm feeling is fairly par for the course. Mind you, it's not much fun having what feels like period cramps when I don't have the uterus anymore. *grr* Apparently one of those medications that does stomach cramps might help? I haven't gone and bought any, because I'm kinda meh on more medication right now.
Anyway, the external stitches are out, leaving some interesting marks in my skin. I feel like I should let them settle for the next couple of days, then peel the small bandages off, rinse off the scabs, and start applying oil to ease the scarring.
Internal stitches? Those ones are probably going to be a bit uncomfortable for the remainder of the healing time, or until they come out. Apparently they're all dissolvable sutures, but she took the external ones out to give my body a chance to heal. I now have some interesting futharks below my belly button!
Now I'm going to to a bit of sewing while listening to a podcast, then probably have some dinner and go to bed. Or maybe watch 'Have You Been Paying Attention' which is a comedy news show here in Australia, where a bunch of comedians answer questions about what's been happening all over the world... I want to see it, but I think it runs kinda late-ish...

possibly graphic descriptions?
It looks like a very gristly and fatty piece of beef. The kind that you really don't want to eat. That said, I'm not medical, but in a uterus of 108mm, there was a fibroid of 68mm in the anterior wall. Which means my uterus was mostly fibroid. The Mirena never even had a chance...

To-go containers for the win!
Really glad it was "only" the fibroids in there. Wishing your body plenty of healing.

That sucks about the food thing. Hopefully your body will be fine with it all.
