Australia apologises to its Aboriginal people for the mistreatement and abuse of two hundred and twenty years.
Maybe it's just a pipe dream, maybe it's political chicanery. It's not going to be easy and nothing will change overnight. For some people, nothing will change at all - even the system for the care and concern of non-indigenous Australians fails some people. There are always cracks and people always fall through - even non-indigenous Australians.
I don't believe that I had anything personal to do with the abuse or mistreatment - I'm too young to be involved in a direct sense - even in the manner of approving/disapproving. But I think it's a step in the right direction, and with enough people going that way, maybe the wagon of life can be pulled along to lands of hope and a better future for the indigenous Australians.
And I'm glad that Australia finally has a PM who's willing to take that step.
