1. The opinions on The Last Man seem very polarised. The love-adoration-worship on one hand; the argh-aggravation-rage on the other. And, frankly, it seems divided between those who love John and/or John&Rodney vs those who prefer Teyla and/or the female characters. Not entirely encouraging.

ETA NOTE: I still haven't seen the rest of S4 - I can't download it because I don't have the bandwidth. And until about 5 minutes ago (whensaeva inadvertantly spoiled me), I was innocent - yes, innocent - of knowledge as to what has happened in the last handful of eps. Everything that I have posted up until now has been guesswork. Apparently reasonably accurate guesswork in most cases (based on the premise that this is a show, written by the Stargate PTB, with a focus on certain characters, and a tendency to treat certain other characters in formulaic ways), but guesswork all the same.

thelana's meta on Feminist Writing Or Not (in this comment):it's been of endless fascination to me that when there's a soap triangle of two guys and one girl, women fans are really fast to take the position of the guy and start trashing the woman for not making a decision immediately, yet two women one man triangles can go on for years, and fans will take the position of one of the women, make excuses for the guy in the middle for many, many years, and endlessly trash the other woman involved in the triangle.Observe how Teyla is in the wrong for not choosing between John and Kanaan, for choosing Kanaan over John, for leaving John hanging, for not making things clear to him. And then compare it with how Teyla/Elizabeth is in the wrong for "stealing" John from whomever The Chosen One is.
