For the family: Yes, I have arrived, I am whole, I am...sorta sane. Maybe a little amped. I've only had a couple of solid hours in the last forty-eight, so my eyes are lovely and red and I'm riding the crest of exhausted.

10:30 - Sydney airport has changed layout. Or feels like it. I'm just slightly exhausted right now - trying to force myself into new time zones. Really, though, I should have gone to bed at 9pm and woken at 12am to try to stretch the day out a little. Maybe I can behave as though the airplane snooze is a nap?
The guy in the row behind me has not stopped talking for the last 90 minutes that we've been on this flight. If he doesn't shut up overnight, I may have to resort to asking him to shut up.
11:26am - Atlantis Big Bang: 40,000 words - hurrah! Now the problem is to get to the end. About another 10,000 words, I estimate. Not sure if I'll get it done, but it'll be 90% finished for the due date. Then there are the rewrites, the revisions, the edits, and the inserted scenes.
2:37am (Vancouver time): screaming baby on the flight - poor thing. It's done nothing but scream and wail for the last hour or two. Whatever it's mother or keeper is doing is not calming it.
So far I've gotten a few stints of sleep in, but my eyes feel really grainy. I've managed a few bouts of writing. 41,198. Still, the story feels disjointed, like it's not part of a whole. It's not my best work, I know that.
5:00pm (Vancouver time): All right. So we've been down to the Olympic torch down at Waterfront, gone out to Stanley park and visited the totem poles, had lunch at the beergarden/bar/bistro/restaurant, nearly fell asleep on the bus back to downtown, got back to the hotel, did fall asleep on the bed, and am now updating my Facebook status and my LJ status so my family (mum esp.) doesn't panic.
Am here! Am fine! Am having fun!
