The client wants to know why a document isn't being created in our system from another system.
1. All connections are green.
2. All the messages are going through and coming back.
3. Have you checked your data?
4. I mean, you wanted to run this connection test between our Test system into the other system's non-live Production system, so you have to expect that some of the data isn't correct.
5. Yes, all the connections are green.
6. Yes, the other system should be telling you what our system has passed back as the issue with the data.
7. Yes, our system has passed back a message with the data in it to parse a message that could tell the user why the attempt to create a document failed.
8. No, I don't know why the other system isn't telling you.
9. Yes, all the connections are fine.
10. Yes, I have attached the actual message being sent back to the other system from our system, with the errors highlighed in red.
11. No, it is not our system problem.
12. HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR STUPID DATA?
They do this a lot. "This document isn't being created!"
me: "Have you checked your data?"
them: "Yes, of course I've checked my data. The transfer obviously isn't working."
me: "Everything is green on my side - all I do is pass the data along, I don't have anything to do with whether the end system accepts or rejects it. Please check your data."
them: *checks the data* Oh, okay, I didn't enter something in right.
me: *HEADDESK*
Rinse and repeat, up to once a day - usually when there are a dozen other things on my plate.
Exhausted and tired and grumpy and so not up to dealing with the customer this week.
