The chickens are actually a lot of work right now - setting everything up, fretting over whether they're being fed enough, dealing with chook shit all over the yard...
I shifted the garden around again this morning, moving their coop, and putting them an open-bottomed run so they can scratch at the garden bed they're on. The problem is getting them from the run to the coop and back again - so I'm in the process of making 'chook tunnels' so they can get from the coop to the run without destroying my garden beds!
Having a bit of an issue with logistics, thanks to the weird triangular door into the coop - it's difficult to attach to a tunnel because of the way it opens - so much so, I'm thinking of cutting a secondary door so I can open and close the gate in and out of the coop...
As of Saturday, this is the state of the chook run...
Coop and start of tunnel:

End of tunnel, and chook run:

The chook run is where I want them to scratch and dig up the ground and shit into. But it's in the direct sun for most of the day right now, and in the middle of summer that's not a good thing for them. But the coop is in the shade, and I don't want them to dig up too much of the ground there. So, this is the compromise.
I've planted ALL THE THINGS and am seriously thinking about turning the front yard into a pumpkin patch, simply because I have that many vines and pumpkins really like a lot of space in which to grow before they produce pumpkins... I may have to negotiate with B1 about that...
