Due to a variety of reasons related to the competition and grading and school holidays, there was a friendly round-robin match for 4 C-grade teams this weekend. Except that because it's the middle of school holidays, almost all the C-grade team had arranged to go away with their families.
Cue a call for players willing to play three 30 minute games against other clubs.
I offered. I probably shouldn't have because I'm not registered for this year, which means if I got injured I'm not insured. But they were glad of any players, so I figured I'd get a run around and have fun.
I went, I played, I scored our only goal for the whole round robin (it was a really nice one, too), and by the third game, I was almost entirely calf cramps.
I have done almost no aerobic exercise since I decided to take my 'year off' in hockey back in March. 90 minutes of pretty steady running was never going to be easy or comfortable and I am paying for it this morning.

I took a long hot bath in epson salts, climbed out, lay down on the couch, and woke a couple of hours later covered with cats.
Today, everything hurts. My traps. My lower back. My quads. My calves. And afew joints are getting their $0.02 in. Plus, I forgot sunscreen, and so I'm a little sunburned.
So damn tired today. And it's a busy week, too.
But damn it was nice to play hockey again. Although that was as much because it was competitive, but not stressful regarding the results.
