Did a course on espaliering trees for an orchard at the permaculture farm where I did my PDC. Great day, but I didn't put sunscreen on and I think I'm sunburned (across the face and possibly neck). That'll be fun this week.
I presently only have one espalier section planned (apples), but after watching today's demo, I'm thinking there's a bunch more that I could do, for convenience and simplicity and productive growing. Hm. Something to think about more.
Another two people from my Permaculture Design Course were also there, and it was lovely to see them and hang out. Our PDC group seemed to connect very well - good humour, practical and hands-on types, the start of friendships that have potential. I'm a little bit out of the main 'zone' compared to the rest of them - living in The Big Smoke, while most of them are up north in the country town/acreage zones.
Also, I stayed in the country town pub last night rather than drive up at 6am this morning and then drive back down after. Upside: not a whole day of driving and course. Downside: closing time at a country town pub on a Saturday night is not condusive to getting sleep.
Anyway, I got a bunch of cuttings for striking. Not that I have space for these, but I think I'm gonna have to set those up tomorrow.
