I worked on Friday so I'd have today off to go to the beach in the morning. Heatwave, etc.
So I wake up this morning, gather all my things, get out the door and in the car, and am off to the beach!
Halfway there, I realise: I've forgotten my beach towel.
There's nothing in the car that I can use, and I hate going back to fetch things when I've forgotten them. That said, last week I discovered I'd left my phone behind on Wednesday when travelling in to the city to watch the Come From Away musical, and had to travel back home from the major train terminal in the area which added an easy 20 minutes to my time; luckily I'd planned to arrive early for lunch in any case, so I didn't miss any of the show.
I ended up driving to a nearby cafe and just having breakfast there, doing a whole lot of writing, and skipping the beach entirely.
I mean, I could maybe go now? We have a good three or so hours of light left, the traffic shouldn't be too bad (it's the first day back at work after 'Christmas/New Year break' for us), and hopefully most people will have gone and toasted themselves in the middle of the day. Hopefully.
Although, also, next Sunday will be another hot day, and if so I'll be heading out that day.
And hopefully next time I'll remember the towel.
