9,000 words. That more or less means I've done 5,000 words in the last week, which isn't bad.

Except that if I continue at this pace, it means I must write 5,000 words a week from now until the due date to get the story finished. And the story's proving difficult enough to chivvy along as is.

In a 40,000 story, having the first 10k is the toughest part because most of it is set up. I think you're over the worse hump and you'll find things begin falling into place once you hit the 'meat' of you story!

Don't worry, you can do it! It gets easier as you write and if you're keeping the goals per week, you'll have it made!!

Yeah, well, at least you're still working on it. I've given up on mine--I was hitting a wall right around the time my grandfather died, and that was the end of that. I'm working on other projects, now.

5,000 in one week? Wow! Considering the longest story I've ever written was, like, 5 pages long, I am in awe right now. I know it's a massive assache sometimes, but your readers totally appreciate all your hard work!
