I've decided that if I complete my SGA Big Bang, I will reward myself with a Wacom drawing tablet.
I tried out the Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet (6x8 size) at the Wacom stand this weekend at Supanova, and have spent all night looking at the various types and designs and prices.
I'd probably just get a medium-sized 6"x8" active area tablet, and which type I got would depend on how much I could get it for. I'd be happy to get an older, used tablet if it was still in good condition and cheaper. On ebay, there appears to be an older-version Intuos with an A4-size drawing area for about 1/3 of the price of an Intuos3 of the same size. We shall see.
But, yes, I only can purchase the tablet if I finish Big Bang. Otherwise, I shall set myself another goal and try to finish that instead. Perhaps the completion of my original fiction by October 17th (I promised it to a friend for her birthday)?
Right now, I know I'll hit the 40,000 mark, I just don't know if I'll finish the story! Plus, tomorrow, I start a new job.
*breathes* I am, perhaps, a little nervous.

...and I just realised. That's Gen X icon you've got!

Yes. Yes it is. :D Someone did a bunch of them a little while ago, and I had to snag them, and it was my favorite comic.

Then again, I have a friend with a tablet who's thinking about getting a new one and might sell me her old. It would make things hugely easier just to buy hers, and it's an A4 size, too! (8x12? 9x12?)
Ah well, we'll contemplate, ruminate, and think about it for a bit. My birthday isn't for another three weeks yet!
I loved Gen X - particularly the Bachalo years. His art was a bit cartoony later, but at the start it was utterly exquisite!
My other favourite artist from the Gen X comics was Terry Dodson (with Rachel Dodson as inker). Okay, so all the women looked the same, but they did curves and poses and flow so beautifully...
