Yeah, I know what you mean.

Season 4 made me appreciate the 'team' more, rather than actual characters or ships. I can get "YAY!" about eps that I wouldn't have a few years back, because there wasn't ship in it.

I might actually be turning into one of those folks who doesn't ship a specific pairing...

Honestly, I write a lot of pairings, but the pairing I'm dedicated to is John/Teyla. There aren't enough people like that in the fandom - people who like John/Teyla but don't mind if it's about the team or other characters.

There's much more to Stargate Atlantis than just John and/or Teyla, and to miss that and always be depressed that "the John/Teyla relationship isn't being moved to the next level" is unhelpful in the fandom experience.

I keep pointing out to people that Sam and Jack had 8 years of UST and the most they ever got was sitting and fishing by Jack's cabin! Not even a kiss! There are still SJ shippers fuming about that - maybe not "if I got RCC in the sights of my gun, I'd shoot the bastard", but close enough!

They're doing more with John and Teyla regarding their relational intimacy than they ever did with Jack and Sam. Small things, subtle things, but very much there.

(Now, if they'd only dedicate an arc to Teyla, not just Teyla-as-mother, but Teyla-as-person, and have her kick the ass of all their enemies, individually and collectively, I'd be really happy!)
