Actually, I do feel kinda fine about it.

Not fine fine, but not manically depressed, either.

All in all, five years has been a good run for the show. SG1 started off with four, got an extra one added, and since then has been adding on in yearly increments.

To some degree, though, I'm waiting for the news from MGM, Sci-Fi, or JoeM rather than Gateworld's notice off another site. Yes, GW is a pretty authoritative site, but I'd prefer news like this to come from the company.

If there's anything I'm depressed about, it's that there won't be any development of the Pegasus galaxy in the end: that our wonderful, white Earthnocentricity conquered all before it and ended the threat to these poor pitiful locals who didn't know what to do with themselves before we people from Earth came along.

Granted, we're talking about TPTB, so chances of development of Pegasus galaxy? Not a big priority.

And now that we've sorted that out, time for the LOLs!

"Reap as you sow, Mallozzi. This is your doing!"

"First Possible War With Russia, and Now this"

"How can you end Atlantis????? Whats wrong with you??!!!!! Why you're doing this to us?? Stargate Atlantis was always a popular. In USA, Canada and even THE WOORRLLDDD!!!! At least there going to be movies!!I just can't believe Atlantis will end!!"

Oh look. Someone's already started a petition.

I bet there'll be five Virtual Season Sixes in production by the end of the month.

Did I say the end of the month? I meant the end of the week!

You know, this is going to be a bit of a downer for Gatecon. Like the 2001 announcement of MS's departure from the show. --

Sci-fi channel sucks, and I hope they get such bad ratings that they finally go off the air! This is the last I will watch of them and any garbage they put up!

I can't believe they keep scrapping great shows (Stargate, Farscape and now Stargate Atlantis all shows that were doing well) to put on cheap crap (flush Gordon, Pain Killer Jane anyone?) that nobody wants to watch. They have been going down hill for a long time now. What can I expect from the bottom of the barrel network of NBC? And they can stuff Stargate Universe, didn’t even like anyone in the cast on that thing!

Yeah, I'm shocked, but overall, I suppose I feel "fine" about it as well. It's just like, "Whoah." Ya know?

Oh look. Someone's already started a petition.

LOL. I was wondering about the same thing. Five seasons is a good run for a show, all things considered. I really would have liked to learn more about the Pegasus Galaxy and it's natives, as I was just wondering about Satedan culture when thinking about the fic I'm working on now. . .

*sigh* There's always fanfic/art. :)

Meh. Go figure.

Every time I get into a sci-fi show, it gets canceled 1-2 seasons later. (Or is already gone - Firefly, anyone??) Came into Dr. Who just after season 3, now the series is out until 2010 except for tv-movie specials throughout the year. Came into SGA just after S4, so yeah. >.>

So aside from the Dr Who specials, I'll have like, NO reason to watch SciFi anymore. At least I know ahead of time. -_-;;

It's MGM, not SciFi that has supposedly pulled the plug. And I TOTALLY agree with everything you said. Not unexpected, but still sad. But somehow, I feel more resigned about it than anything else. And I just laughed and rolled my eyes at the "HAHA's" and "I told you so's" showing up on JM's blog already. As if the five year extra bonus MGM gets in syndication has nothing to do with it and even though the ratings have stayed strong. Nope, they were right and it's all because their preferred character is gone or their despised character was brought on. Aren't they brilliant. And oh yes, the petitions have already started.

And no, Stargate Universe has not been casted as far as we know yet. What has been previewed on SciFi that I'm assuming people are getting confused with is Sanctuary, not Universe.

This sucks. Completely and totally sucks. Ever since BSG turned around and sucker punched me in the face this season (http://raksha38.livejournal.com/16043.html), SGA has been my favorite thing on TV (warts and all). I'm so torn. On the one hand, it's a good idea to end a series before it pulls an X-Files and totally implodes. But on the other hand, this season has been kicking some major ass and I feel like it's managed to shake off a lot of the listlessness that I think last season suffered from. I think they had so much they could still have done with this show, although I question if they really could have done it without a massive in-flux of non-SG1-affiliated creative staff (particularly writers).

*sigh* Well, there's always fanfic.

I'm mildly consoled that we'll be getting movies, with at least one confirmed and probably more after that if it does anywhere near as well as the SG-1 movies. And I'm holding out hope that the rumors of some kind of resolution to the John/Teyla/Kanaan thing are true, as frustratingly Sam/Jack-like and vague though it would undoubtedly be.

If there's anything I'm depressed about, it's that there won't be any development of the Pegasus galaxy in the end: that our wonderful, white Earthnocentricity conquered all before it and ended the threat to these poor pitiful locals who didn't know what to do with themselves before we people from Earth came along.

How much do you want to be spoiled? Also: "Earthnocentricity." Hee!

And while I'm bitching about things, where are my fucking Farscape webisodes?!? We were promised they were in the works, like, a year ago!

I'm not destroyed, but I'm bummed. Only show I really really like, now has an end date. :( I'm really going to miss the characters in particular, despite the fact that, yeah, they never really did take advantage of the whole other worlds/other galaxy/other diverse cultures thing.

I'm totally bummed and a bit pissed off at SciFi. My one consolation is that SGA will continue in movies, but it's not the same. Thankfully, I'm sure there will be much more wonderful fanfic to keep me going. But I'm still bummed. And curious as to what wonderful thing SciFi thinks it has waiting in the wings. Their track record with new shows is less than stellar, with Eureka being the only truly great show (in my opinion) they've had in a handful of years.

Like most scifi fans, I'm used to my favorite shows being canceled so I'll get over it, but it's going to smart for awhile.

*sigh* I think I'm going to go mope for a bit.
