Not fine fine, but not manically depressed, either.
All in all, five years has been a good run for the show. SG1 started off with four, got an extra one added, and since then has been adding on in yearly increments.
To some degree, though, I'm waiting for the news from MGM, Sci-Fi, or JoeM rather than Gateworld's notice off another site. Yes, GW is a pretty authoritative site, but I'd prefer news like this to come from the company.
If there's anything I'm depressed about, it's that there won't be any development of the Pegasus galaxy in the end: that our wonderful, white Earthnocentricity conquered all before it and ended the threat to these poor pitiful locals who didn't know what to do with themselves before we people from Earth came along.
Granted, we're talking about TPTB, so chances of development of Pegasus galaxy? Not a big priority.
And now that we've sorted that out, time for the LOLs!
Oh look. Someone's already started a petition.
I bet there'll be five Virtual Season Sixes in production by the end of the month.
Did I say the end of the month? I meant the end of the week!
You know, this is going to be a bit of a downer for Gatecon. Like the 2001 announcement of MS's departure from the show. --

Like most scifi fans, I'm used to my favorite shows being canceled so I'll get over it, but it's going to smart for awhile.
*sigh* I think I'm going to go mope for a bit.

Don't go off and mope - stick around here and mope with other fans! (It's a better moping experience, trust me.)
I suspect the 'waiting in the wings' show is 'Stargate Universe' - the third Stargate spin-off.

I don't know too much about Stargate Universe so I can't muster up too much enthusiasm at the moment. The good thing though is that I was very adamant about not liking SGA until I actually saw it and subsequently fell in love with it. I actually broke down and watched the pilot because Daniel and Jack were in it. :)
My big question mark is about the rest of their programming. They haven't shown anything very promising lately (except for Eureka, as I said before). And with both BSG and SGA gone or making an exit, and only shows with questionable plots (Painkiller Jane/Flash Gordon), shows with even more questionable premises' (Scare Tactics/Ghost Hunters), or their infamously bad television movies left(which are amusingly awful, but still, ya know, awful), I'm not quite sure what they're hanging their hopes on.
Who knows? Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I don't put a lot of hope in TV execs.

Hence the push for SGA (with five seasons and therefore able to be shown in syndication) to movie-status. They tried it with SG1 and it was quite successful, now they're going to try it with SGA.
And, no, I don't put a lot of hope in TV execs. However, I don't think I'm quite qualified to say that I know what's best for the show.
Unless I'm really angry at what they've done and am ranting. Then all bets are off. :D

You're probably right. I mean, DVD sales have been enough in the past to bring back a show, if only for a DVD or two. And SG1 seems to have done quite well with those (Stargate Continuum was awfully good), but my one complaint in that area is that you miss out on a lot of the fun stand-alone episodes that a TV show can provide (I'm thinking of Window of Opportunity as a prime example). The time constraints of a movie just don't allow for that kind of frivolity. Oh well, I guess that's what fanfic is for! :D

That's true. The quirky doesn't happen so much in movies - it's a more of an action-adventure drive. And that might be another reason why they're pushing to movies, given the sci-fi genre.
