Sure, such fans are supporting of Sam/Daniel and Rodney/Teyla - however, it's not just supporting pairings that involve their fan favourites, it's supporting any pairing that splits the female from the main male character. Many fans seem to insist on reserving the love of the main male character exclusively for the secondary male character - or perhaps, in a pinch, another male character.
Alpha male/male is fine (usually in fanon), but alpha male/female is icky (in canon)? Every time?
It's not about specifics so much as it's about patterns. And the patterns I see among fans who prefer m/m interactions is that they're not just "well, I prefer this pairing" so much as wholly rejecting the main male character's canonical romantic relationship with the female character. "It's wrong. It needs to be undone. She needs to break his heart. He needs to get with his BFF. They have no chemistry." And so on ad infinitum.
