(Also, I haven't followed the adoption debate, but my first thought is, "Taking in orphans sounds very nice, but what the heck do North American parents know about raising Haitian children?" In my fanon Athosian society is matriarchal-leaning Yup, yup. There are probably a dozen little things Teyla endures on a daily basis that never even blip her Earth friends' radars. Ronon would be more clued in, but Satedan culture is quite different too.
