Okay, the archive site for all my fanfic is finished! (At least until I write another story.)
So now, you can find all the Atlantis fic I've written (well, nearly all of it) at The Dragonborn.net, archived alongside
seldear's fanfic.
I'm presently working on the zinefic (overdue), which is why I haven't posted anything in a while. But there are a few stories happening in the background - now that we're in hiatus, I want to turn my hand to writing longer action-adventure stories, and not just the short, shippy vignettes.
Not that there's anything wrong with the short and shippy, just that I like the big sweeping plotty things, too. And the crackfic bunnies are at me again. Anyone got a gun for them?
I haven't finished the DVD commentary of To Serve A Queen, either. I got to about Chapter 7 and then my Semagic client began crashing my computer. So that may have to wait for a bit. Sorry!

I'm planning to drop everything and write original fiction in April. I think I'm going to have to do that, or I'll never get out of fanfic - which is fun, just...not helpful to the original fiction writing.

You'll be surprised making the leap from an established world to your own universe. It's really tough to mesh everything together, but the basic skills you've gained will help. When I went from writing Star Trek novels to my own, it was mind-boggling but well worth it.

Hence the need to banish the fanfic for a month.
And I've seen the various comments on fanfic by authors - I think Jacqueline Carey's take is probably a good balance between what should be (copyright respect) and what will be (people wanting to use one's characters).
Fanfic is fun, enjoyable, and has taught me things I would never have otherwise learned, but it can be an end in itself or it can be a jumping-off point, and I've been trying to use it as a jumping-off point for a while now.
I just can't seem to make it let go enough to actually jump.
