So I took the advice of the f-list and watched the next 'arc-relevant' episode, which was generally considered to be 2.07 - Veritas:
Solid episode, enjoyable although not outstanding. A little too much Will, I think. I like him, but I prefer Helen-centric episodes. The problem is that Will's usually the POV character - the character the audience is expected to gel with because his knowledge of the Sanctuary started around the same times as ours (the audience).
This is also possibly also why I liked Pavor Nocturnus: the POV character is Helen, trying to make sense of the world she found herself in.
I guessed the who - we didn't have investment in it not being anyone else and Declan was heavy-handed, but too obvious to be the villain, plus that smile! - although not the how. My version of the how involved the telepaths making her crazy so she would be the one acting out like that. Don't ask me why; I hadn't formulated that at that point.
I was worried that the Big Guy was actually dead - and off-screen! And the plan Helen hatched was definitely a Batman Gambit, with elements of the chessmaster about it. Actually, I can imagine Helen playing Magnus Speed Chess. Be afraid - be very very afraid!

Still not so much of Kate, although the attitude has visibly eased back by now, which is a relief. But I think I like her. So far, anyway...
(Sorry, the next few days are going to be like this. I will then move on to Merlin S3. Promise!)
