Just got home from the con.

This is not a full report: I didn't attend any of the panels this time, just got my photos and autos and came home. Just not a good weekend for me to be out.

However, I did hold a few brief conversations with actors at the con.

I spoke briefly with David Anders, Laura Vandervoort (Lisa from V), and Joel Gretsch (Father Jack from V) - mostly saying I admired the work of theirs that I'd seen. I had a brief chat David Hewlett while he was sitting with an empty autograph line in front of him, and with Chris Heyerdahl while waiting in line for Ryan to turn up for the Sanctuary Duo photos (Chris and Ryan).

While chatting with Chris, I was asking when Sanctuary Season Four began shooting and he said he didn't know.

Apparently Sanctuary Season Four may have been greenlighted by the network, however because it's a privately-funded enterprise, getting the money for production is not as easy as, say, when a network funds a show. When a network funds a show, the money is there and they can start filming anytime. The private backers of Sanctuary have to scrape together the money for production for the whole year before they can start filming. Apparently last year, they took down the offices and everything because they thought they wouldn't have the money, and then two weeks later, the money came through and they set everything back up again.

I didn't realise that - the differential between being greenlighted and funded by a network, vs. being greenlighted by a network (ie. "you make it and we'll have a timeslot for you" without the automatic money).

So Sanctuary may have a timeslot waiting for it once it has the money, but it needs to get the money first. :/

Other than that, I couldn't bring myself to stay and attend the panels. Just not in the mood.

As it was, it still took six hours to get everything done - not including travel time - and that was three photos (one Hewlett, one Heyerdahl, one Heyerdahl-and-Robbins) and four autos (Hewlett x2, Heyerdahl, Robbins). Someone is picking up my photos for me, because they weren't ready when I left and I won't be going back tomorrow.

Notable: Ryan Robbins was unbelievably late to the con. He missed his flight out of LA and had to be rescheduled on one the next day. Which then arrived several hours late. And then the people bringing him to the con took him to the wrong building! A mighty cheer went up when he finally arrived. However, he's also a little woozy from the flight and the lack of sleep, and while getting an autograph I made a joke about the lights having coronas and shortly getting slices of lemon (lime?) and then he complained that he wanted a beer. Poor guy. He may be a little loopy at this afternoon's panel.

Huh. I had no idea. Interesting, if a little scary for the Sanctuary fans just now.
