The problem with watching episodes in massive catch-up bouts is that I find myself forgetting what happened in the individual episodes. It really is like ODing on something: the little details blur into the overall experience. And I find myself losing the little bits and pieces rather than getting it all to seep into my brain.

But I'm definitely enjoying this series. Lots of food for thought, meat for grist, and...maybe a few ficlets?

1.09 - The Dreamscape

Walter is excellently hilarious in each and every episode. "I have an erection." And all his reminiscences about food. And Peter's childhood, most of which seem to be about himself, not about Peter. I kind of wish there was more Astrid, though. She's the Fringe equivalent of The Chevron Guy, really. Has a line or two each ep, but doesn't really contribute.

I love the Olivia/John Scott interactions - even in the dreamscapes, where she's all heartbroken and conflicted. Anna Torv does a wonderful job of depicting Olivia's conflicts about John. That whole sequence with Olivia talking to John as though he's there and can hear her? Awesome. And the part with the emails. Man, that's freaky.

There are still things that annoy me in the episodes - the need of all these one-off characters facing horrors to scream and scream and scream. Yes, it's very dramatic, but it's also bloody annoying. And stupid. And counterproductive.

1.10 - Safe

Ick, getting caught in a wall. Although I pegged this as the apple guy from the start. (Through safe to get apple, with scientist who got shot after they worked the apple.)

They're beginning to up the Olivia/Peter dynamic. The scene in the bar where Olivia introduces Peter as her brother is fantastic.

Peter is really good with Walter. And has a background in interrogation. On both sides of the table. And I love Charlie, he's surrounded by people he doesn't know, but he does the job anyway. And Peter is both cute and scary at once. "You violated the laws of physics, mr eastwick, and mother nature's a bitch."

And Olivia's freaky brain comes to the rescue again. I love this show and Olivia and her perfect recall memory, and Peter's lack of memory: what really happened to him as a child, and [livejournal.com profile] allisnow keeps dropping hints about Peter's past and how it plays into more recent episodes.

Mr. Jones is certainly proving to be a fascinating adversary: what's his goal, what does he want? Nina's motives are still very shrouded and highly ambiguous: that whole sequence about John Scott's body and the memories that MD needs being possibly in Olivia's brain, but Mr. Jones is doing a much better job of being menacing and dangerous. Not that Nina's dangerous, just that she manages to project 'nice little old lady' in massive spades.

1.11 - Bound

"If you're going to kill me, can I please have some water." Oh, she's good. Clever and resourceful and active! WOO! I love Olivia. I LOVE OLIVIA. She's so wonderfully action-girl. And the hero. And ruthless, and damn good.

She runs on adrenaline and then she has the breakdown, but not soo much; just enough to give her some relief. OMG. A WOMAN WHO'S ALLOWED TO SAVE HERSELF!

And then gets shot again. And Mr Harris of that pharmaceutical company up against Global Dynamics. With a grudge against Olivia and the FBI who assisted her. This stuff always makes me shudder. And get angry. Although Olivia's appeal to him later: "You don't have to like me or my methods, but do the right thing." Good call on her part to hit the guy where it hurts. Hopefully.

"Well maybe that's because a giant slimy spiky slug came out of his mouth."

Olivia's more worired about other people than herself. Oh, Peter: "I care about you." And the room stops. "She's beautiful, isn't she?" "Who?" "The slug." Of course, Walter. Of course.

Charlie is teh awesome. I love that he backs Olivia up no matter what. And is willing to involve Peter: "I am the guy to break the law for you."

And, once again, Walter is all about how worried Peter was about Olivia. Oh, and Walter, too. But not as much as Peter. *snerks*

I'm curious about the fic in the fandom. Is it a very ficcy fandom? Are the fics vignettes and romance, or more action-adventure/drama/character? Is it mostly shippy? Case-fic? Is Olivia the main character in the fic, too? I don't know who else it would be, to tell you the truth - Peter's not in the action enough, and neither is Charlie - the show follows Olivia very specifically and everyone else is supporting.

And where do I find icons for Fringe? Up to midway through S1 by preference, or else non-spoilery. This is going to be one of those fandoms where I have to be really careful of spoilers, because one spoiler could really wreck the arc.
