So I lightly spoilered myself from TV Tropes. :/

Note to self: watching a JJ Abrams show is a bit of an emotional Russian roulette. Except that he is going to shoot you with the mean-and-ebil PTB bullet at some stage in the show. Probably several times over the course of the series...

Okay, so we're up to Northwest Passage with only the Over There duology left...

eta: I just watched Over There because I couldn't wait.

My God, I love this show... )

Anyway, that's a killer of a season finale. How long did they have to wait for the conclusion?

My blurty while watching Over There because I was watching this with no-one to talk to.

Apparently production moved to Vancouver this year, and it shows. New angles and new locations, new sets...and old faces.

The show has become something of a "spot the Stargate/Sanctuary actor" in the works.

eg. 2.06 featured Martouf as a mysterioua CIA agent, and 2.07 featured Nigel Griffin as a car salesman, with the adult administrator from the SG1 S3 episode Learning Curve as a scientist.

It's a little distracting, I must admit.

It's sort of interesting working through Fringe and seeing how it's a more standard telling of the 'man walks into the Underworld' storyline - also Sanctuary's premise.

Fringe is more standard than Sanctuary, because the focus is the everyman character - Olivia - while Sanctuary is focused on the mentor-of-the-everyman - Helen. It's less standard than the usual telling of the 'man walks into the Underworld' storyline because the person walking into the Underworld of Fringe is actually a woman.

Anyway, this ramble was brought to you by a post on DW: [personal profile] newredshoes' explanation of why you should watch Fringe.

I agree with all of it and direct you there if you've ever considered watching Fringe and wondered why you should.

HOOOOOOLAY SHIIIIT!

Okay, so the last six episodes of the series are AWESOMESAUCE. I loves me some epic arcness and, boy, does Fringe ever deliver!

So, I watched Inner Child (baby Observer), Unleashed (monster of the week), and Bad Dreams (Olivia and the buddy pairing) last weekend and rather enjoyed Bad Dreams enough that I watched it again. Twice. That's how much I liked it.

I'd watch Ability again, but one of my personal childhood nightmares is people without orifices.

So, the previous trio of episodes was good. THESE ONES WERE BETTER.

Will I ever be able to sleep at night again? (1.18 - Midnight, 1.19 - The Road Not Taken, and 1.20 - There's More Than One Of Everything) )

And, most importantly: Do any of these questions get answered in Season Two before new questions start coming? Or do the questions just pile up in a neverending heap? (Honestly, I've never watched a JJ Abrams series before, so I have no idea what to expect. Or if expectations are a bad-wrong-dangerous thing to hold for a show like this?

"This is the part of the day I love! I know there's something bizarre out there, I just don't know what it is."

I have to say, although I probably wouldn't say it quite as...gleefully as Walter does, there's a certain amount of truth in his words here...

Am still enjoying this show, even through the horror aspects. I'd kind of like to write fic for it, except that, once again, I don't know that I could do the epicity of the show justice. It's very epic.

The problem with watching episodes in massive catch-up bouts is that I find myself forgetting what happened in the individual episodes. It really is like ODing on something: the little details blur into the overall experience. And I find myself losing the little bits and pieces rather than getting it all to seep into my brain.

But I'm definitely enjoying this series. Lots of food for thought, meat for grist, and...maybe a few ficlets?

I'm curious about the fic in the fandom. Is it a very ficcy fandom? Are the fics vignettes and romance, or more action-adventure/drama/character? Is it mostly shippy? Case-fic? Is Olivia the main character in the fic, too? I don't know who else it would be, to tell you the truth - Peter's not in the action enough, and neither is Charlie - the show follows Olivia very specifically and everyone else is supporting.

And where do I find icons for Fringe? Up to midway through S1 by preference, or else non-spoilery. This is going to be one of those fandoms where I have to be really careful of spoilers, because one spoiler could really wreck the arc.

I watched the first three episodes of Fringe and enjoyed them.

Fringe: ramble on characters, episodes, meta, and my personal kinks in TV shows )

tl;dr: I like the characters. I like the plots. I'm just not sure I can watch the plots and get enough sleep to make me a functional human being.

Are there any people who like both Fringe and Sanctuary on my f-list?
