So, I finally watched the mid-season two-parter. Not bad.
This double-episode held my interest me more than the early ones about Adam Worth. Maybe because of the 'journey to the centre of the earth' feel of the story; maybe just because it didn't have Adam Worth/Hyde posturing half the time.
(The duology of him appears to have been a gimmick rather than a serious plotline. Slightly disappointing.)
The steampunk/technologically advanced city is certainly an interest, and the themes of betrayers/betrayed is a fascinating one all through the Worth arc: Adam feels betrayed in exclusion by the Five, and then specifically by Helen when she fails to save his daughter. He betrays the Hollow Earthers (I've forgotten the name of the city or what they called themselves), then Helen, then Helen's body betrays her, and when 'going to the rescue' Worth betrays John; Gregory Magnus is thought to be a betrayer but is actually true, while the "Will's counterpart" woman was the betrayer in the end.
Not a bad ending to the arc, although somewhat predictable. I've obviously been watching too much Fringe, where nothing is ever as it seems and even the 'truth' has several layers to it. Honestly? In the last 15 minutes of the 2nd episode (from the scene where Helen was performing surgery on Kenan), I was waiting for Rana to display her deeper plan and betray Helen in turn. Could have gotten interesting!
Anyway, I heard someone comment that the Friday night episode was worth watching for Kate, Biggie, and Declan. So here's hoping!
And there's always the new Monday timeslot episode!
I came this close to downloading the first couple of eps of H50 this evening...because I need another show like I need a kick in the head...
