I met up with [livejournal.com profile] schneefink yesterday afternoon and we had a great little chat in the streets of Vienna. I tried Vienna sausage (with mustard! and horseradish!) and at one point nearly choked on a little too much horseradish. We talked about everything from fandom to politics, although not fandom politics, and went for a walk through the Stadtpark (I think it was the Stadtpark; I could be mistaken).

Thanks for meeting up with me, [livejournal.com profile] schneefink!

Vienna was beautiful and I'm a little sorry we only had the one day there.

Today is Bratislava, tomorrow is Budapest, and then the three days after that are Prague, before we fly home via Dubai.

I can't say I'm looking forwards to getting home. All I can think about is that I'll get back to Sydney and have to get my cat from the vet and bury her, rather than gathering her up for a snuggle the way I usually do when I get home from overseas. It's going to be bad for the first couple of weeks back, I think. And while part of me wants to get another cat just so I don't have to think about her being missing, a part of me doesn't want to leap into that straight away.

Then there's the job hunt and unpacking, sorting through my wardrobe, and the projects and stuff that I need to start and finish - not just fannish but around the house, and with my profic, and out in the garden.

It's not going to be the winter I imagined. I can't say it'll be better, but I hope it'll be productive.

To be honest, the sausages might be at least half originally Hungarian. But finding Viennese food that is not originally from somewhere else is harder than one might think.

It was the Stadtpark. :-)

It was wonderful to meet you! I hope you're enjoying the last days of your trip. *hugs*
