So, I heard today that one of the contractors who worked at my old workplace for our big implementation project has been re-hired for the next big implementation project.
But...they didn't call me to ask if I wanted to come back...
On the plus side, there may be work in it for me at the place where the contractor was working...
...if they actually hire me, instead of the bajillion other people who are probably applying, most of whom are most likely more qualified and/or more dedicated than me.
...nobody likes me everybody hates me think I'll go and eat worms...

I'll be sending good thoughts about you to the hiring department of the place where the contractor was working.
It's tough looking for work right now. I know. My son, who graduated with a degree in computer science in 2011 is happy to be employed installing window treatments after looking for work between May and November and finding nothing. Of course work opportunities may differ between Sydney and Philadelphia, but right now I'm betting it's tough most places. I'm inclined to think that the problem does not reside with you.

I'm always worried about being That Person who Doesn't Realise The Joke Is On Them. *shudder*

And I quite agree with your shudder. Being in that position is never fun. Isn't it frustrating how we all carry an Inner Middle Schooler around inside of us?
I often wonder if those people who were super popular and having a wonderful time informing the rest of us that we hadn't realized that the joke was on us don't have that, or whether they have a better hidden one.

Still, sometimes it's nice to think that one or two human beings could have gotten out of middle school unscathed, even if it was at my own expense. It would be still nicer if that person was actually, you know, nice, but I guess we can't have everything!
