TITLE: Mengele Of Atlantis
CATEGORY: Drabble (100 words), Angst, Character study, gen
CHARACTER: Carson
SPOILERS: 2.20 - Allies
NOTES: When I asked for genfic prompts, [livejournal.com profile] goddess09807 gave me: Carson evolving from the guy in Poisoning the Well where he is so afraid of the repercussions to the guy who is basically creating a biological weapon. The evolution of Carson would take quite a bit of study, I think, but this much, I can manage. Fic in fifteen minutes!

Mengele Of Atlantis

Carson misses the man he was.

Certainty is fragile as soft-fallen snow on his hands, melting with each passing heartbeat. The Wraith Queen walks from the room, her hunger satiated, her satisfaction plain. Dr. Weir and Colonel Sheppard follow after, their faces stiff with revulsion.

Carson does not. Not immediately.

Instead, he stares at the bed, at the withered form in the sheets. He looks at what his 'experiment' has wrought. Nausea rises in him; he forces it away.

It would mean at least something good came of our experiment with Michael.

He wonders if Mengele ever walked this path.

ps. I don't have a Carson icon! How is this possible? I don't have a Carson icon! (Someone point me to one? Pls?)

Wow. Loved this. Moving, thought-provoking - so much in only a 100 words.

This is a wonderful present to wake up to, and I can't believe you wrote THIS in 15 minutes.

Poor Carson, he's not Mengele, not yet anyway.

Absolutely wonderful! I wish the show would explore more of Beckett's story; he's got one of the most fascinating character arcs in the series, imho anyway. I love this glimpse and he has to have wondered about the comparisons to Mengele.

I'll share my Carson icons, if you like. (No worries if you don't.) The text in the background of this one reads "It is a common misconception that the words 'Primum non nocere'(first, do no harm)appear in the Hippocratic Oath." Much as I love Carson as a character, it's the first thing I think about in relation to him in Season 2.

(There's another one here (http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/46469885/984031), with just the text "primum non nocere". I'm not exactly pleased with it, but Carson does look lovely in black and white. ;-)
