So, I wrote Necessity (The Lion Taming Remix), inspired by legete's Avengers fic Optional, which was about Thor and nudity and the Avengers.
Me, being me, made it Maria Hill and nudity and the Avengers.
I'm pretty satisfied with it - I mean, I'm sorry that it's probably not to the author's taste, but as a "story inspired by" and not a "fic exchange", I'm pretty happy with the resulting fic - especially after all the angsting I did.
I did kind of have a 'sixth' section with Steve naked and Maria as a sequel, but I decided against it. And "five plus one" worked very nicely with all the other Avengers and then them dealing with Maria.
The story remixed for me was Hot Ink (Beneath The Facade), which is a remix of my Steve/Maria fic "Hot Ink". It's quite nicely done, especially considering it's not a pairing in which my remixer had any interest - she seems to write exclusively Steve/Tony.
So, yeah, the actual matching of remixers with remixees seems to have been done in BizarroLand, because I got a Steve/Bucky slasher, and was given to a Steve/Tony slasher - both of which, surely, would have been easier to match with the many Steve/Bucky and Steve/Tony slashers out in Avengers fandom!
And it's why I'm hesitating over joining Remix Redux: because there's no allowance for people who'd prefer to write something in a similar ouvre and not just in a particular fandom. For instance, I don't want to add to the bajillion stories about Tony Stark. I'd rather add to the stories about any of the female characters. While other writers get hives at the thought of having to write a story about a female character.
I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I could add "gen, het, female-centric" to my sign-up for a remix - as options, obviously, but with the matchers actually looking at it (this is important, while optional details are optional, I would expect to be matched with someone who actually signed up with 'gen/het', not someone who wrote slash) and saying "oh, here's someone else who prefers gen, het, and female-centric stories...let's match this person to that one!"
